On April 17, there will be an Issaquah School District Construction and Maintenance Bond on the ballot.  The proposed bond measure includes funding that will provide for:
- Rebuilds of our oldest schools:  Clark Elementary, Issaquah Middle and Sunny Hills Elementary are all at the end of their lifespans.  Rebuilding now, when construction costs and interest rates are at historic lows, is a more efficient
use of taxpayer dollars than making costly repairs.
- Future capacity and learning environment:  The bond will provide for Phase 2 of the modernization of Liberty High School and will add space to accommodate growth at Issaquah Valley and Apollo Elementaries.

- Opportunities
for increased career and technical training:
The relocation and expansion of Tiger Mountain Community High School will provide all of our high school students with increased access to career and technical education through a variety of community partnerships.
- Usability and safety: Turf fields at our middle schools will increase the availability of those fields by five times, while capacity improvements at our high school stadiums will increase opportunities for students and improve their safety.

- Critical
maintenance and repairs
throughout the district will increase energy efficiencies and decrease maintenance costs, saving operating dollars that can be used in the classroom. Best of all, residents can expect to see a decrease in local school taxes
even if the bond is approved—for example, the owner of a $500,000 home would pay about $215 less per year.  How?  The new bond ($219 million spread over eight years) is structured to be about half as much as the bond debt retiring in 2012.
