Challenger Elementary PTA Angel Program

The Angel Program at Challenger Elementary provides a helping hand to students who need extra support with basic necessities.  The program is strictly confidential, both sponsors (known as “Angels”) and students remain anonymous.

Angel sponsors make a huge difference in the lives of individual students within our Challenger community. Anyone can become an Angel sponsor or choose to donate.

How you can help:

Sign up if you are interested in being an angel by visiting: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a084ea8a928a57-challenger8

Once you sign up, you will be notified through email when items are added to the sign up. Items will range from socks and shoes to coats and sweaters. Sign up for an item and bring it in within one week of signing up. Items can be dropped off in Mykela’s office. If you’re in a hurry or don’t know where that is, Pam Yates in the front office can assist.   We ask that all items be new and not previously owned.

Snacks: Healthy, individually wrapped nut-free snacks are always in need at Challenger. Next time you’re at the grocery store or Costco, consider grabbing an extra box of granola bars, goldfish, bag of apples or other non-refrigerated snack and bringing it in to the office.

Sponsor together – Feel free to grab a friend and share the cost of an item.

Gift Cards/Cash Donations – You can donate gift cards (local area stores are the best option). We recommend gift cards to Target, Fred Meyer, Old Navy, etc. You can also make a cash donation to the Angel Program and the funds will go to a 'restricted fund account' that will be used solely for purchasing items for Angel children on the waitlist. Checks can be placed in the PTA box outside the main office and made out to Challenger PTA  with, “Angel Donation” in the memo line. Check donations can also be used to purchase a summer camp for a child that otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend and are fully tax deductible. The Angel coordinator will then distribute items amongst the waitlisted children.
